This course is aimed at students who are interested in exploring and understanding the process of interior design for their own use to improve their living or working environment, or as an investigation into interior design as a career option.
By experiencing the combined teaching methods of lectures and practical studio work, the student will gain a basic understanding of:
How to produce a visual interpretation of a brief
How to design and plan a space
Producing plans and elevations
Exploring colour, lighting and furniture in the interior
How to develop a suitable palette of materials and finishes
How to source furniture and materials
Basic presentation techniques
The design process is taught through a one room project. Students are given a client profile and asked to design a live work space in an eco construction at the bottom of the garden. The project is presented at the end of the course demonstrating the learning achievements.
This course is the introduction week of the Certificate 1 and has been developed as a testing ground for students who may wish to continue their studies.
