About us
The School began in 1991 to provide a fast track Diploma Course for people who are passionate about the subject and are looking for a career change in commercial and residential design. Over the years we have developed additional short courses and evening classes for those who wish to learn the basic skills and product knowledge.
The last quarter of the 20th century was a turning point for the Interior Design profession when there was a distinct shift in thinking towards Architecture, Interior Architecture, Interior Design and Interior Decoration. This has resulted in schools of architecture introducing Interior Design degree courses and the introduction of vocational training which brings together the creative processes with practical skills and product knowledge.
The teaching team at the Interior Design School encompasses expertise in all the various subjects. Each year the Diploma curriculum is re-assessed to maintain standards in keeping with the industry. Recent course assessors have strongly recommended a balance between creative workbooks and proficient computer skills.
The teaching process is based around a programme of live projects, emulating as much as possible a practising design studio. Each project is presented to and assessed by a practising interior designer.
Contact with the industry is maintained with organised work placements to design offices related to each student’s speciality.
